With so many singers, recording studios, and live music venues, Nashville has earned its reputation as Music City. But it’s also home to the most talented songwriters in the business.
For decades, the iconic Bluebird Café has honored songwriters with its famous writers-in-the-round performances. These intimate shows feature a handful of songwriters who perform songs they’ve written (many of which have been recorded by major artists), then share the inspiration behind those songs. And while writers’ rounds got their start at the Bluebird, many other local venues now continue the tradition.
“If you come to Nashville, you may go to a bar or a small venue and see three or four people on stage singing and playing guitars and talking about the songs they wrote,” notes Radio & TV personality Bobby Bones. “There is such a creative world of songwriters here.”
Until now, the chance to see one of those writers-in-the-round performances required a trip to Nashville.
This Saturday (March 8th), Bones and three of country music’s top hitmakers will come together for a Writers’ Round that will be broadcast live from Analog in Nashville (housed inside the Hutton Hotel) to theaters around the country. (Show starts at 8pm EST, 7pm CST.)

“Together, these three songwriters have written over 40 No. 1 songs recorded by everyone from Taylor Swift to Jelly Roll to Old Dominion,” says Bones. “They have massive hits people already know and love. And the fact that we’re doing this event ‘live’ is a really cool part of it. If they mess up or play a wrong chord or get emotional, it’s all there. Just as it if you were watching it in Nashville.”
Featured songwriters include Brett James (who wrote Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel”), Kelly Archer (who wrote Brett Young’s “Sleep Without You), and Matt Jenkins (who wrote the Jordan Davis/Luke Bryan hit “Buy Dirt.”)
